During January-April 2023, cargo volume carried by all transport modes in the RF transport system was up 6% year-on-year to 2.44 bn tons.
According to the RF Statistics Agency, the largest volume was carried by road, up 10.1% year-on-year to 1.64 bn tons.
Rail freight increased slightly by 0.3% year-on-year down to 412.1 mn tons.
Pipeline traffic was down 3.8% year-on-year to 371.3 mn tons.
Sea freight grew by 40.1% year-on-year up to 10.6 mn tons.
Inland shipping volume declined by 6.5% year-on-year down to 9.2 mn tons.
Air transport carried 140 thousand tons, down 49.5% year-on-year.
In April 2023, freight transportation by almost all of the transport modes declined month-on-month. The inland shipping segment carried almost twice as much cargo as in April last year.
