May 16 a transport and logistics center developed on the basis of the freight yard at the railway station of Arkhangelsk was inaugurated, Russian Railways said in a statement.
The facility features warehousing facilities and storage yards, a road access, state of the art video monitoring system as well as comfortable customer-friendly office spaces.
The center offers one-stop delivery, loading, unloading and storage services for piece, heavylift and bulk cargo. The facilities are equipped with portal cranes and other cargo handling machinery.
The new logistics center is expected to help increase freight traffic in the region. Arkhangelsk is the most busy station of the Severanaya Railway, part of Russian Railways. Last year, some 1.5 mn tons of cargo was handled there.
Other railway stations of the Severanaya Railway where cargo terminals are to be developed this year include Cherepovets, Vologda, Velikiy Ustyug, and Privolzhie (Yaroslavl).
