14 Billion Subsidies for Shipboard Equipment Development and Production

  • The Government of the Russian Federation has ordered to allocate 14 bln rubles ($170.5 mln) from the federal budget for the development, serial production and modernization of shipboard equipment in 2023 in the framework of the civil shipbuilding support programme.

An order to this effect was signed by RF Premier Mikhail Mishustin, the Government press office reports. ‘We expect that implementation of the programme will help ensure the construction of different vessel types including passenger and fishing vessels, as well as tanker and gas carriers,’ Mishustin is quoted as saying.

Previously, the equipment for those ships was to have been purchased abroad, but the implementation of the sanctions has disrupted cooperation in many industries, shipbuilding included.

The federal subsidy will cover up to 80% of expenses for developing, building and implementing equipment, purchasing parts and componentry, renting manufacturing equipment and facilities necessary for the projects in question.
