In January-March 2023, the sales of new cars and light commercial vehicles in Russia decreased by 44.7% year-on-year to 153.5 thousand units, according to the AEB Automobile Manufacturers Committee (AEB AMC).
In March alone, new car and LCV sales declined by 10.2% year-on-year but grew 15.7% month-on-month to make 48.4 thousand units.
Lada remained the leader of the Russian car market in March 2023 with its sales up 89.9% year-on-year to 23.3 thousand units.
China’s Haval remained the second position with 6.8 thousand units sold, up 4.3-fold year-on-year.
Another Chinese brand. Geely, retained the third position in the rating with its sales surging 3.4-fold in March to 5.1 thousand units.
GAZ commercial vehicles continued to rate the fourth with 5.1 thousand units sold, up 77.1% year-on-year.
UAZ commercial vehicles rated the fifth with its sales amounting to 2.6 thousand units, up 18.1% year-on-year.
Most of the brands sold in the Russian market demonstrated a negative trend in March 2023, the few exceptions apart from the brands from the Top 5 being China’s Great Wall (up 13.6-fold), Changan (up 4.9-fold), and FAW (+94%).
