The rail and truck ferry “General Chernyakhovsky” has successfully completed sea trials, the RF Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport Rosmorrechflot said in a statement.
The vessel is built for the Ust-Luga – Baltiysk service linking the ‘mainland’ Russia with its Kaliningrad enclave. The “General Chernyakhovsky” is expected to be deployed in autumn this year.
She will join her sister ship, the “Marshal Rokossovsky”, which has been serving the route since March 2022. The dual-fuel vessels are designed to carry rail wagons and other ro-ro cargo.
