Russia Modernizes Cranes for Pakistan

  • Russia’s SMM Group has embarked on a large-scale project to modernize and deliver heavylift cranes for shipbuilding yards and port terminals in Pakistan.

    According to the RF Ministry of industry and trade, the first portal assembly crane for Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works has already been delivered to the customer.

    The 32-ton capacity unit can lift cargo 45 meters high. To extend the lifecycle of the equipment, SMM has refurbished the crane installing new electric equipment and control system.

    In the near future, SAMM is to modernize another three portal assembly cranes at the yard.

    The total contract is worth over 1 mn euro.
