Road, Sea and Inland Shipping Freight Down in October 2021

  • During January-October 2021, cargo volume carried by all transport modes in the RF transport system was up 1% year-on-year to 6.14 bn tons.

    According to the RF Statistics Agency, the largest volume was carried by road, down 1% year-on-year to 4.49 bn tons.

    Rail cargo grew by 3.4% year-on-year up to 1.067 bn tons.

    Pipeline traffic was up 8.6% year-on-year to 938.2 mn tons including gas pipeline traffic up 16.6% to 470.5 mn tons, oil pipeline traffic up 1.3% to 433.1 mn tons and oil product pipeline traffic up 3.4% to 34.8 mn tons.

    Sea freight decreased by 2.5% year-on-year down to 19.5 mn tons.

    Inland shipping volume declined by 3.1% year-on-year down to 95.6 mn tons.

    Air transport carried 1.2 mn tons, up 30.2% year-on-year.

    In October, cargo transportation volume carried by road, sea and inland shipping declined.
