Container Traffic via Far East Basin Ports in September Up 10.8%

  • According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the total container throughput via the Far East basin ports in September 2021 increased by 10.8% year-on-year. Export grew by 4.4%, import by 25%, and transit surged by 38.8%. Cabotage, on the contrary, declined by 1.9%.

    The share of the Far East basin in the total container traffic via all the Russian seaports in September 2021 amounted to 39.8%.

    Laden container throughput in the Far East increased by 24.3% year-on-year. Reefer containers accounted for 7.5% of the total laden container traffic, and dry containers for 92.5%. Imports made 50.9% of all the laden containers, cabotage 22.6%, exports 21.5% and transit 5%.

    Empty container traffic was down 18.7%.

    The port of Vladivostok accounted for 61.5% of the aggregate container throughput via the Russian Far East basin sea ports in September. Vostochny handled 23.6%, and Korsakov 5.3% of the total.
