TOP-5 Russian Container Terminals in January-August 2021

    According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the total container throughput of all the Russian sea ports during January-August 2021 amounted to 3.7 mn TEU. Five terminals handled more than 2 mn TEU or 55% of this volume.

    In January-August 2021 Commercial Port of Vladivostok (VMTP) is the leader in terms of container throughput. Its container traffic increased by 14.3% year-on-year up to almost 490 thousand TEU.

    First Container Terminal rates the second in January-August 2021. It handled 424.7 thousand TEU, down 1.8% year-on-year.

    Container Terminal Saint-Petersburg saw its container traffic decrease by 11.2% down to 398.8 thousand TEU.

    Container traffic via NUTEP amounted to 376.1 thousand TEU, up 17.8% year-on-year.

    Vostochnaya Stevedoring Company handled 350.9 thousand TEU, up 21.2% year-on-year.

    It should be noted that the highest container throughput growth was via Dalzavod-Terminal in Vladivostok. Its container traffic surged 41-fold. Sevrechflot in Sabetta was up 4-fold, Murmansk Commercial Sea Port up 3-fold.

    The largest decrease in container traffic was in Pevek Sea Port (-68.5%), Anroskrym in Port Kavkaz (-65.4%) and YuzhnoKurilsk Docker in Nevelsk (-57.2%).
