Russia Cuts Petrol Export

  • According to the RF Federal Customs Service, Russia’s crude oil export in January-July 2021 was down 9.3% year-on-year to some 129.9 mn tons. In terms of value, crude oil export increased by 29.9% year-on-year making $57.1 bn.

    Oil products export was on the previous year’s level making 85.3 mn tons. In terms of value it was up 33.9% to over $37.5 bn.

    Diesel fuel export made 29.5 mn tons in terms of tonnage (-7.6% year-on-year) and $14.1 bn in terms of value (+13.7%).

    Petrol export in January-July 2021 decreased by 22.5% year-on-year down to 3.1 bn tons worth $1.6 bn, up 3.5%.

    In July, Russia exported 18.6 mn tons of crude oil, up 6.1% year-on-year and down 18.1% month-on-month. In terms of value, crude oil export surged 95.3% year-on-year and decreased by 7.8% month-on-month to make $9.4 bn.

    Oil products export in July increased by 3.1% year-on-year and declined by 12.2% month-on-month to make 10.8 mn tons worth more than $5.5 bn (up 2.1-fold year-on-year and down 7.8% month-on-month).

    Diesel fuel export made 3.6 mn tons (down 14.8% year-on-year and down 12.6% month-on-month) worth $2 bn (up 68.4% year-on-year and down 7.5% month-on-month).

    Car petrol export in July declined by 3.4% year-on-year and by 13.5% month-on-month making 281.1 thousand tons worth $183.6 mn, up 2.1-fold year-on-year and down 7.6% month-on-month.

    Natural gas export in January-July 2021 amounted to 123.8 bn cbm, up 18.4% year-on-year. In terms of value, it also increased, by 89.1% up to $23.7 bn.

    Liquefied natural gas export during January-July 2021 increased by 5.2% year-on-year up to 44.4 mn cbm, its value was down 11.7% to $4.4 bn.

    In July, natural gas export made 14.2 bn cbm, up 14.5% year-on-year and down 9.6% month-on-month. Value-wise, it was worth $3.5 bn, up 3.2-fold year-on-year and down 2.1% month-on-month.

    LNG export in July amounted to 9.1 mn cbm declining by 2.2% year-on-year and by 24.8% month-on-month. In terms of value, LNG export grew by 4.5% year-on-year and decreased by 24.2% month-on-month making over $1 mn.
