Novotrans has informed about the start of dredging in the water basin of its LUGAPORT terminal project in the port of Ust-Luga. An agreement with Rosmorport appointing Novotrans Active, a subsidiary of Novotrans, as the general dredging contractor, was signed in August this year.
The dredging is to be completed by December 30, 2023. The basin of the terminal will cover 115 ha, the depth will make 17.5 m enabling the terminal to accommodate Panamax, New-Panamax, and Baby-Capesize vessels. The overall amount of dredging is estimated to make 11.5 mn cubic meters.
The project envisages developing a universal terminal to handle general cargo, solid bulk, grain and food products, the total capacity is to make 24.3 mn ton per annum.
The first stage of the terminal is to be put into operation in late 2022, the second stage in late 2023, and the third stage om the first quarter of 2024.
