New Shipyard to Be Built in Russian Far East

  • Dalnevostochnaya Verf Ltd. (literally, Far Eastern Shipyard) plans to establish a facility to build high and heavy metal structures and technology equipment for oil and gas projects and to repair small- and medium-tonnage vessels in Shkotovo region in the Russian Far East. The yard is expected to be put into operation in Q4 2021. The new facility will be based on the premises of the existing shiprepair yard in Shkotovo region.

    According to Ivan Zdobin, Director of Dalnevostochnaya Verf, the company intends to build protective structures for underwater offshore equipment for oil and gas companies. It will also repair rudder and propeller equipment and clean and paint vessel hills.

    The new yard has a slipway for 14 vessels and is capable of handling propellers up to 2 meters in diameter. Dalnevostochnaya Verf expects to service 30 smal- and medium-tonnage vessels annually.

    451 mn rubles ($6.1 mn) is to be invested into the project. Most of the money will be used to build the infrastructure and purchase the equipment.
