TransContainer in cooperation with Rail Cargo Austria have organized the first transit block train from China to Austria and Italy. The train carrying 50 containers with consumer goods left Qingdao on July 25.
The train is routed via the border crossings of Zamyn-Uud (between China and Mongolia), Naushki (between Mongolia and Russia), Krasnoe-Osinovka (between Russia and Belarus) and Brest-Malasheviche (between Belarus and Poland).
At Brest-Malasheviche, the containers will be loaded onto fitting platforms of the European gauge standard and transported to Austria and Italy via Poland and Czechia. The transit time to Linz in Austria is expected to make 22 days, and that to Milan in Italy 23 days.
According to TransContainer, the company intends to make the service regular since September. It is also mulling launching a similar block train via the border crossing checkpoint of Zabaikalsk.
