Rosatomflot and Arctic Transshipment LLC, a subsidiary of Novatek, have signed an agreement to build auxiliary port fleet to offer tugboat services at the LNG terminal in the Ura Bay in Murmansk region.
The terminal will be used for transshipping liquefied natural gas from Arctic LNG 2 and other projects developed by Novatek from Arctic LNG tankers onto conventional gas carriers.
According to Rosatomflot, five Arc4 tugboats are necessary to serve vessels that will call at the terminal. As stipulated by the agreement with Arctic Transshipment, they are to be delivered to Murmansk no later than January 1, 2021.
Rosatomflot is going to finance the construction using its own resources and a bank loan. The agreement with Arctic Transshipment is valid till 2037 with an option of extension till 2047.
The ASD TUG 3010 ICE ARC4 tugboats will be 29.8 m long, 10.4 m, have a draft of 4.9 m, a speed of 13.2 knots, and will be equipped with two 1920 MWt Caterpillar main engines and Kongsberg US 255 rudder propellers. they will be capable of operating in ice up to 0.4 m thick.
