In H1 2021, the sea ports of Ukraine handled 502.9 thousand TEU, down 3.5% year-on-year.
By way of comparison, Russia’s largest Black Sea port of Novorossiysk during January-June 2021 handled 448.3 thousand TEU growing by 9.3%.
According to the Ukrainian Sea Ports Administration, export container traffic via the Ukrainian sea ports made 238.5 thousand TEU, down 2.5% year-on-year. Import decreased by 2.5% down to 246 thousand TEU. Transit container traffic via the major Ukrainian ports declined by 23% down to 18.4 thousand TEU. Cabotage made 2 TEU.
Odessa handled 331.2 thousand TEU in January-June, up 4.5% year-on-year.
Container traffic via Pivdenniy (formerly, Yuzhny) decreased by 17.9% to make 102.7 thousand TEU.
Chernomorsk (formerly known as Ilyichevsk) handled 68.9 thousand TEU, down 12.3% year-on-year.
Olvia Specialized Sea Port (formerly, Oktyabrsk) handled 52 TEU (-81.9%).
