Container Traffic via Baltic Basin Ports in June 2021 Up 24.4%

    According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the total container throughput via the Baltic basin ports in June 2021 increased by 24.4% year-on-year. Export was up 16.3%, and import grew by 24.9%. Transit made 7 thousand TEU, with Kaliningrad handling the entire volume.

    The share of the Baltic basin in the total container traffic via all the Russian seaports in June 2021 amounted to 45.7%.

    Laden container throughput grew by 26.7% year-on-year. Reefer containers accounted for 13.6% of the total laden container traffic, and dry containers for 86.4%. Transit made 3.8% of all the laden containers, exports 42.6%, and imports 53.6%.

    Empty container traffic increased by 13%.

    The Big Port of St. Petersburg accounted for 82.6% of the aggregate container throughput via the Russian Baltic basin sea ports in June. Kaliningrad handled 16.1%, and Ust-Luga 1.3% of the total.
