Transit container traffic from China to Europe via Kaliningrad Oblast by rail surged 5.5-fold during H1 2021, according to Kaliningrad Railway.
During January-June 2021, Kaliningrad Railway carried 47.3 thousand TEU. This includes 39 thousand of multimodal traffic that went on to Europe by sea (up 7.8-fold) and 8.3 thousand TEU that was transported via land border crossings (up 2.4-fold).
Compared to H1 2019, container transit between China and Europe in both directions surged 8.8-fold.
