The LNG bunkering barge “Dmitry Mendeleyev” built for Gazprom neft has successfully passed sea trials, the company said in a statement. During the trials, the propulsion system, navigation equipment and control systems of the vessels were tested, and its maneuverability and speed characteristics confirmed.
At the next stage, the LNG loading, storage and offloading systems will be tested. The “Dmitry Mendeleyev” LNG barge is to be commissioned in Half 2 2021 and will be deployed supplying LNG in the ports of St. Petersburg, Ust-Luga and Primorsk in the Gulf of Finland.
The “Dmitry Mendeleyev” project makes use of state of the art shipbuilding and LNG transportation technologies and complies with the most stringent environmental standards. The 100 m LOA 19 m bean has a capacity to carry up to 5,800 cub m of liquefied natural gas. The ice-strengthened hull corresponds to Arc$ ice class allowing the vessel to operate unassisted in one-year-old ice up to 80 cm thick.
The integrated digital system makes it possible for one person to navigate the vessel from the bridge.
