Russian Crude Oil Export in January-March 2021

  • According to the RF Federal Customs Service, Russia’s crude oil export in January-March 2021 was down 19.4% year-on-year to 50.8 mn tons. In terms of value, crude oil export decreased by 22.5% year-on-year making slightly over $19.8 bn.

    Oil products export declined by 0.5% down to 36.7 mn tons. In terms of value it was down 11.9% to $14.4 bn.

    Diesel fuel export made 13.1 mn tons in terms of tonnage (-6.2% year-on-year) and $5.6 bn in terms of value (-23%).

    Petrol export in January-March 2021 decreased by 18.6% year-on-year down to 1.5 bn tons worth about $682.1 mn, down 28.3%.

    In March, Russia exported 16.9 mn tons of crude oil, down 22.9% year-on-year and down 0.1% month-on-month. In terms of value, crude oil export declined by 3.7% year-on-year and grew by 7.5% month-on-month to make $7.1 bn.

    Oil products export in March decreased by 9.7% year-on-year and increased by 13% month-on-month to make 12.9 mn tons worth more than $5.6 bn (down 5.9% year-on-year and up 28.5% month-on-month).

    Diesel fuel export made 4.3 mn tons (down 22.8% year-on-year and down 4.5% month-on-month) worth $2 bn (down 24.6% year-on-year and up 6.4% month-on-month).

    Car petrol export in March declined by 31.8% year-on-year and increased by 33.8% month-on-month making 645.3 thousand tons worth $303.4 mn, down 34.4% year-on-year and up 36.1% month-on-month.

    Natural gas export in January-March 2021 amounted to 56.1 bn cbm, up 20.4% year-on-year. In terms of value, it also increased, by 40.7% up to $9.6 bn.

    Liquefied natural gas export during January-March 2021 declined by 14.4% year-on-year down to 14.3 mn cbm, its value was down 33.3% to $1.2 bn.

    In March, natural gas export made 19 bn cbm, up 34.8% year-on-year and up 11.1% month-on-month. Value-wise, it was worth $3.2 bn, up 83.3% year-on-year and up 9.6% month-on-month.

    LNG export in March amounted to 8 mn cbm surging 2.7-fold year-on-year and 2.9-fold month-on-month. In terms of value, LNG export grew by 74.6% year-on-year and 5.6-fold month-on-month making $799.1 mn.
