Container Traffic via Azov and Black Sea Basin Ports Up 8.5% in April 2021

    According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the total container throughput via the Azov and Black Sea basin ports in April 2021 increased by 8.5% year-on-year. Import was up 8.3%, export up 9%. Cabotage and transit were non-existent in April 2021.

    The share of the Azov and Black Sea basin in the total container traffic via all the Russian seaports in April 2021 amounted to 15.9%.

    Laden container throughput grew by 11.2% year-on-year. Reefer containers accounted for 22.2% of the total laden container traffic, and dry containers for 77.8%. Imports made 58.4% of all the laden containers, exports 41.6%.

    Empty container traffic increased by 1.1%.

    The port of Novorossiysk accounted for 99.1% of the aggregate container throughput via the Russian Azov and Black Sea basin sea ports in April. Azov handled 0.9% of the total.
