Krasnoe Sormovo Shipyard to Build Series of 11 Dry Cargo Ships

  • Krasnoe Sormovo Shipyard, part of Russia’s United Shipbuilding Company, has won a contract to build a series of 11 RSD59 dry cargo vessels for GTLC-Finance. The contract is to be signed within 20 days.

    According to Mikhail Pershin, Managing Director of the yard, the ships are to be delivered in 2022. The order will provide full utilization of the yard’s capacity in the short term, he said.

    At present, Krasnoe Sormovo is building a series of KSP01 crabbers. Besides, the yard is to deliver another six RSD59 dry cargo ships.

    For the time being, Krasnoe Sormovo has delivered 23 RSD59 vessels to customers. The vessels are designed to transport general cargo, solid bulk, packaged sawn goods, logs, metal scrap, metal rolls, high and heavy cargo, coal, dangerous cargo.

    The vessels measure 141 m LOA and 16.98 m beam, and have a draft of 4.5 m at sea and 3.6 m in the river.
