  • The semi-submersible floating drilling rig “Severnoye Siyanie” has made a call at the port of Vostochny in the Russian Far East to be loaded on board a special purpose vessel for transportation to the place of deployment.

The deepwater port of Vostochny can accommodate vessels up to 400 m LOA and with a draft up to 178 m. However, the operation involving a call of a drilling rig and loading the unit on board a heavylift vessel has been implemented in Vostochny for the first time, according to the RF Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport.

The “Severnoye Siyanie” will be deployed on the Russian Arctic shelf. The Gazprom-owned rig is designed for drilling exploration and production oil and gas wells. The unit has a displacement of 59 thousand tons and a crew of 76 people. The “Severnoye Siyanie” was built at the Vyborg Shipyard.
