According to the RF Federal Customs Service statistics, during January-March Russia exported 8.7 mn tons of wheat and meslin, up 19.1% year-on-year. In terms of value, grain export increased by 46% up to $2.19 bn.
Wheat import into Russia during January-March 2021 grew by 22.5% up to 44.6 thousand tons. Corn import, on the contrary, declined by 26.7% down to 19.2 thousand tons. Barley import made 500 tons, down 92.2% year-on-year.
In terms of value, wheat import was up 56.1% to $17.8 mn. Corn import was down 25.3% to $72.8 mn, barley import declined by 68.8% down to $0.5 mn.
In March 2021 alone, wheat and meslin export made 1.15 mn tons, down 68.7% year-on-year and down 74.6% month-on-month. In terms of value, it declined by 57.2% year-on-year and by 74.1% month-on-month to make $301.4 mn.
Wheat import in March made 14.1 thousand tons, down 6.6% year-on-year and down 1.4% month-on-month. Value-wise, wheat import made $5.5 bn, up 22.2% year-on-year and much on the previous month’s level.
Corn import declined by 1% year-on-year and increased by 83.3% month-on-month making 9.9 thousand tons. In terms of value, it increased by 24.6% year-on-year and surged 2.9-fold month-on-month to make $44.5 mn.
Barley import made 0.5 thousand tons, down 81.5% year-on-year. There were no barley imports last month. In terms of value, barley import was down 28.6% year-on-year down to $500 thousand.
