The Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex has laid down a green Aframax tanker for Rosnefteflot, part of Rosneft. The vessels is the seventh in the series of 12 Aframaxes in the yard’s portfolio.
According to Rosneft, steel cutting for the tanker started in February 2020, the delivery is scheduled for delivery in 2022.
With a length of 250 m, a width of 44 m, and a deadweight of 114 thousand tons, these Aframax tankers will be the first vessels of this type built in Russia. They will be equipped with the most advanced class A automation system.
The green Aframax tankers are designed to transport crude oil in an unlimited navigation area thanks to the propulsion machinery that can run on environmentally friendly fuel, liquefied natural gas, in accordance with high environmental standards.
At present, seven Aframax tankers are under construction at Zvezda. The lead vessels in the series was delivered to the customer in December 2020.
