Ro-Pax Admiral Nevelskoy Sets Sail for Sakhalin

  • The newbuild ro-pax “Admiral Nevelskoy” has set sail for Sakhalin Island in the Russian Far East from Nevsky Shipbuilding and Shiprepair Yard near St. Petersburg via the Suez Channel.

    According to the Sakhalin Oblast Government, the vessel left the yard on 26 February and is expected to reach her destination in April to be deployed in May.

    The “Admiral Nevelskoy” will be deployed between Sakhalin and Kuril Isles on the Korsakov – Kunashir – Iturup – Korsakov line with a twice a week service frequency. At present, the route is served by the only vessel “Igor Farkhutdinov” built in the 1990s.

    The second ship for Sakhalin, “Pavel Leonov”, a sistership of “Admiral Nevelskoy”, is scheduled for completion in April. Both the vessels have a passenger capacity of 146 people and are capable of carrying vehicles and cargo.
