Волжское пароходство открыло навигацию 2021 года

Volga Shipping Opens Navigation Season 2021

  • Russia’s Volga Shipping Co started the river navigation 2021 season sending three dry cargo ships for loading grain to Rostov-na-Donu at the end of last week.

This year, the inland navigation is hampered by adverse ice conditions in the South. While last year there was almost no ice as the first vessels proceeded for loading cargo, this year the Don River is still covered with ice with the temperature as low as minus 16.

In March, Volga Shipping plans to deploy seven more dry cargo vessels to ship grain in the South Russian waterways.

The navigation on the Low Volga is traditionally scheduled to start in late March, and on the Upper Volga at the end of April only.

Last navigation, Volga Shipping carried 8.2 mn tons of cargo.
