In 2020, the sea ports of Ukraine handled 1.05 mn TEU, up 4.1% year-on-year.
By way of comparison, Russia’s largest Black Sea port of Novorossiysk during 2020 handled 783.2 thousand TEU growing by 1.9%.
According to the Ukrainian Sea Ports Administration, export container traffic via the Ukrainian sea ports made 495.4 thousand TEU, up 4.2% year-on-year.
Import increased by 3.4% up to 509.6 thousand TEU. Transit container traffic via the major Ukrainian ports grew by 12.9% up to 44.2 thousand TEU. Cabotage was non-existent.
Odessa handled 652.2 thousand TEU in 2020, up 0.4% year-on-year.
Container traffic via Pivdenniy (formerly, Yuzhny) increased by 11.5% to make 243.8 thousand TEU.
Chernomorsk (formerly known as Ilyichevsk) handled 152.7 thousand TEU, up 9.7% year-on-year.
Olvia Specialized Sea Port (formerly, Oktyabrsk) handled 513 TEU, up 3.2-fold year-on-year.
