A logistics hub to handle transit block trains from China to Europe routed via the Russian-Polish border crossing Zheleznodorozhny-Skandava is planned to be developed in Kaliningrad region.
According to the Kaliningrad Railway, relaying containers from the Russian standard gauge onto the European one is to be organized in the Chernyakhovsk logistics center, where a new container terminal is under construction.
The Kaliningrad Railway is also discussing with partners a project of developing a transport and logistics hub in Chernyakhovsk to distribute containerized cargo for delivery to end customers.
The project envisages multimodal delivery options involving rail delivery to the port for loading onto short sea vessels.
