Russian Transport System Cargo Down in January-October 2020

  • During January-October 2020, cargo volume carried by all transport modes in the RF transport system was down 7.3% year-on-year to 6.38 bn tons.

    According to the RF Statistics Agency, the largest volume was carried by road, down 8% year-on-year to 4.37 bn tons.

    Rail cargo declined by 3.2% year-on-year down to 1.03 bn tons.

    Pipeline traffic was down 9.4% year-on-year to 862.7 mn tons.

    Sea freight decreased by 0.1% year-on-year down to 19.8 mn tons.

    Inland shipping volume declined by 1.1% year-on-year down to 96.8 mn tons.

    Air transport carried 0.908 mn tons, down 1.1% year-on-year.

    In October, rail cargo, air freight and pipeline traffic increased month-on-month. Cargo transportation by other modes of transport declined.
