Freight Rates from Ust-Luga, Week 35, 2020

  • The upwards trend in the Baltic large-tonnage bulker market continued into week 35. According to Sea Line ship brokers, shipping by Handy and Supramax bulkers is quite active. Seeing the improving market conditions, many ship owners decided to relocate their fleet to the Baltic, as a result there are increased expectations for open tonnage for September. 

    On week 35, freight rates for 30,000-35,000 dwt bulkers from Ust-Luga in the Baltic went up, according to Sea Lines.

    Last week, rates on the Ust-Luga – Continent – Ust-Luga routes were $16.5 pmt, rates from Ust-Luga to ARAG made $17.25 pmt.

    Rates from Ust-Luga were $21.5 pmt to West Med rates, and $24 pmt to East Med.

    Rates for 30,000-35,000 dwt bulkers from Ust-Luga to the Black Sea amounted to $25 pmt, rates to the Persian Gulf were $41 pmt.

    The intra-Baltic market of small-tonnage bulkers was also improving, with owners relocating their vessels from the Mediterranean to the Baltic and the Continent hoping to find sufficient cargo in the region.

    Rates from Ust-Luga to Klaipeda were €9 pmt, and those to Riga and Stockholm were €8 pmt.

    Freight rates from Ust-Luga to Hamburg made €15 pmt, and to Bremerhaven €16 pmt.

    Rates from Ust-Luga to ARAG were €117 pmt, and those to Dublin €30 pmt.
