TOP-5 Russian Container Terminals in January-June 2020

    According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the total container throughput of all the Russian sea ports during January-June 2020 amounted to 2.6 mn TEU. Five terminals handled 1.4 mn TEU or 55.5% of this volume.

    Container Terminal Saint-Petersburg remains the leader in terms of container throughput, even though its container traffic decreased by 14.9% down to 342.2 thousand TEU.

    First Container Terminal saw its container traffic grow by 0.4% up to 321.8 thousand TEU.

    Container traffic via Commercial Port of Vladivostok (VMTP) amounted to 312.6 thousand TEU, up 10.1% year-on-year.

    NUTEP increased its container traffic by 35.5% up to 253.5 thousand TEU.

    Petrolesport handled 212.8 thousand TEU, up 26.4% year-on-year.

    The highest container throughput growth was via Arctic Consulting Service in Arkhangelsk. Its container traffic surged 6.8-fold. Directorate for Construction under the Presidential Administrative Department in the Far Eastern Federal District of Vladivostok was up 85.7%, and Pervomayskiy Seaport of Vladivostok up 76.3%.

    Also, astronomical growth figures were demonstrated by stevedores, which had just a couple of container year and this year handled a hundred or two, such as Nikolaevsk Commercial Sea Port (+44,900%) and Makhachkala Commercial Sea Port  (+5,700%).

    The largest decrease in container traffic was in Prostor DV in Sovetskaya Gavan (-91.1%), Sea Port of the Troitsa Bay in Zarubino (-59.5%) and Nakhodka Sea Fishing Port (-55.6%).
