Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port down 3.7% YoY in January-April

  • Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port handled 45.9 mn tons in January-April this year, 3.7% below the January-April 2019 result.

    Novorossiysk-based assets of the group (NCSP proper, IPP, Novoroslesexport, Novorossiysk Shiprepair Yard, Novorossiysk Grain Terminal and Novorossiysk Fuel Oil Terminal, which is a JV with Chernomorskie Main Pipeline Company) handled 23.7 mn tons, down 16.1% year-on-year and down 8.2% month-on-month.

    Baltiysk-based Baltic Stevedore Company saw its throughput decline both in TEU (-32.9%) and tonnage (-24.8%).

    Primorsk was slightly up 15.3% year-on-year to 21.9 mn tons.

    Crude oil handling in NCSP (Novorossiysk and Primorsk facilities combines) was up 6% to 24.1 mn tons. Primorsk handled 15.2 mn tons, up 12.5%, and Novorossiysk handled 8.9 mn tons, down 3.4%.

    Oil products handling on the group level increased by 6.8% year-on-year up to 13.7 mn tons. Novorossiysk (IPP, Sheskharis, Novorossiysk Fuel Oil Terminal) handled circa 7 mn tons, down 3.4% year-on-year. Primorsk increased oil products handling by 22.3% year-on-year up to 6.7 mn tons.

    Solid bulk plummeted by 49.1% year-on-year down to 2.3 mn tons.

    Ferrous ore handling surged by 59.9% up to 1.5 mn tons due to the growing export activity. Chemicals grew by 12.6% up to  249 thousand tons.

    Coal handling increased by 5.6% down to 459 thousand tons, sugar dropped by 99.8 down to 5 thousand tons.

    General cargo declined by 27.3% year-on-year down to more than 3.6 mn tons. Ferrous metals were down 30.5% to 3.2 mn tons, and timber and logs down 65.1% to 41 thousand tons.

    Non-ferrous metals grew by 27.7% up to 373 thousand tons, perishables were up 93.1% to 49 thousand tons.

    Containerized cargo traffic declined both in Novorossiysk and Baltiysk.
