During January-April 2020, cargo volume carried by all transport modes in the RF transport system was down 1% year-on-year to 2.35 bn tons.
According to the RF Statistics Agency, the largest volume was carried by road, up 0.6% year-on-year to 1.55 bn tons.
Rail cargo declined by 4.3% year-on-year down to 407.8 mn tons.
Pipeline traffic was down 4.5% year-on-year to 381.7 mn tons.
Sea freight increased by 9% year-on-year up to 6.9 mn tons.
Inland shipping volume grew by 19.7% year-on-year up to 11.7 mn tons.
Air transport carried 0.3 mn tons, down 0.6% year-on-year.
In April, in comparison with the previous month, cargo transportation volume declined by almost all of the transport modes, the only exception being inland shipping.
