According to SeaNews Russian Foreign Trade Customs Statistics online service, the export of gold from Russia in 2019 amounted to 121.7 ton, up 7.2-fold year-on-year. In terms of value, it made $5.7 bn, up 8.1-fold.
In 2019, Russia exported gold to 13 countries. The main country destination was the UK, while the main region of origin was Moscow.
Gold export to the UK increased 10.9-fold up to 113.5 tons. In monetary terms, it surged 12.3-fold up to $5.3 billion. Most of the shipments were made via Moscow. Also, significant volumes were shipped from Kostroma Oblast, St. Petersburg and Amur Oblast.
Shipments of gold to Kazakhstan from Khabarovsk Kray and Sverdlovsk Oblast amounted to 4.5 tons, or $178.2 mn.
Gold export to Switzerland made 3 tons, down 42.3% year-on-year. In monetary terms, it decreased by 36.8% to $133.6 mn. Shipments originated from Moscow, Krasnoyarsk Kray, Amur Oblast, Sverdlovsk Oblast and Kostroma Oblast.
