Russian Railways’ Export via Sea Ports

  • According to Russian Railways, the loading of cargo designated for export via Russian sea ports made 51.5 mn tons during January-February 2020 increasing 0.4% year-on-year.

    47.2% of the entire volume is coal growing by 2% up to 24.3 mn tons during the period under report.

    Coal loading designated for South Russian ports surged by 41% year-on-year up to 2.6 mn tons, that to North-Western ports decreased by 0.9% down to 7.7 mn tons, and that to the Russian Far East by 1.5% down to 14 mn tons.

    Oil and products accounted for 30.4% of the total export rail freight, ferrous metals for 7.5%, and fertilizers for 5.3% of the total.

    15.6 mn tons, 3.5% more than in January-February 2019, was designated for the North-West sea ports.

    The Southern region ports accounted for 13.5 mn tons, down 0.5% year-on-year.

    Cargo volume loaded for export via the ports of the Russian Far East made 16.6 mn tons, up 0.3% year-on-year.

    In February 2020, export rail cargo loading designated for the Russian sea ports made 25.6 mn tons, down 1.2% month-on-month.
