TransContainer has launched a new rail service for hazardous cargo in reefer containers from South Korea to Poland. A test train left Vostochnaya Stevedoring Company in the Russian Far East on January 21 and will cross the territories of Russia and Belorussia to arrive to Poland in Malashevice. The cargo is Li-On accumulators for LGChem stuffed into reefer containers.
The first test shipment in Decmber last year demonstrated a transit time of 19 says from Busan to Malashevice, twice as short as the traditional all-sea delivery.
TransContainer is offering the new service in cooperation with South Korea’s Pantos Logistics. The two companies signed a cooperation agreement at the Far Eastern Economic Forum in 2019.
The partners intend to make the service regular with trains running weekly.
