During January-November 2019, the sea ports of Ukraine handled 911.1 thousand TEU, up 20.3% year-on-year.
By way of comparison, Russia’s largest Black Sea port of Novorossiysk during the same period handled 679.4 thousand TEU growing by just 1.9%.
According to the Ukrainian Sea Ports Administration, export container traffic via the Ukrainian sea ports made 430 thousand TEU, up 20.5% year-on-year. Import was up 20.2% to 446.1 thousand TEU.
Transit container traffic via Ukrainian ports increased by 19.1% up to 35 thousand TEU. Cabortage was non-existent.
Odessa handled 592.6 thousand TEU during January-November 2019, up 10.2% year-on-year.
Container traffic via Pivdenniy (formerly, Yuzhny) surged by 80.5% to make 193.3 thousand TEU.
Chernomorsk (formerly known as Ilyichevsk) handled 125.1 thousand TEU, up 11.2% year-on-year.
Olvia Specialized Sea Port (formerly, Oktyabrsk) handled just 149 TEU, down 55.3% year-on-year.
