According to the RF Federal Customs Service statistics, during January-October Russia exported over 26.4 mn tons of wheat and meslin, down 28.5% year-on-year. In terms of value, grain export dropped 23.2% down to $5.3 bn.
Wheat import into Russia during January-October 2019 declined by 44.7% down to 140.6 thousand tons. Corn import declined by 19.4% down to 28.7 thousand tons. Barley import made 32.6 thousand tons surging 2.6-fold year-on-year.
In terms of value, wheat import was down 19.4% to $33.6 mn. Barley import increased by 42.9% up to $3 mn, while corn import was down 26% to $94.7 mn.
In October alone, wheat and meslin export made 3.8 mn tons, down 15.2% year-on-year and down 9.7% month-on-month. In terms of value, it decreased by 21.3% year-on-year and by 9.7% month-on-month to make $703.5 mn.
Wheat import in October made 11.7 thousand tons, down 63.2% year-on-year and up 74.6% month-on-month. Corn import surged 2.3-fold year-on-year and by 40% month-on-month to make 0.7 thousand tons. Barley import made 27.7 thousand tons, in September 2019 and in October 2018 Russia did not import this commodity.
In terms of value, wheat import in October 2019 made $3.1 mn, down 51.6% year-on-year and up 72.2% month-on-month. Corn import doubled year-on-year and increased by 50% month-on-month amounting to $600 thousand.
