During January-September 2019, the sea ports of Ukraine handled 812 thousand TEU, up 18.9% year-on-year.
By way of comparison, Russia’s largest Black Sea port of Novorossiysk during the same period handled 616.2 thousand TEU, same as in January-September 2019.
According to the Ukrainian Sea Ports Administration, export container traffic via the Ukrainian sea ports made 383.4 thousand TEU, up 19.4% year-on-year. Import was up 18.9% to 398.7 thousand TEU.
Transit container traffic via Ukrainian ports increased by 11.5% up to almost 30 thousand TEU. Cabortage was non-existent.
Odessa handled 531.2 thousand TEU during January-September 2019, up 9.1% year-on-year.
Container traffic via Pivdenniy (formerly, Yuzhny) surged by 79.2% to make 169.4 thousand TEU.
Chernomorsk (formerly known as Ilyichevsk) handled 111.3 thousand TEU, up 9% year-on-year.
Olvia Specialized Sea Port (formerly, Oktyabrsk) handled just 132 TEU, down 59.4% year-on-year.
