During January-July 2019, the sea ports of Ukraine handled 545 thousand TEU, up 20% year-on-year.
By way of comparison, Russia’s largest Black Sea port of Novorossiysk during the same period handled some 455 thousand TEU, down 4.4% year-on-year.
According to the Ukrainian Sea Ports Administration, export container traffic via the Ukrainian sea ports made 259.2 thousand TEU, up 18.7% year-on-year. Import was up 19.8% to 265.7 thousand TEU.
Transit container traffic via Ukrainian ports makes some 2-3 thousand TEU a month, during January-July 2019 it surged by 49.7% up to 20.9 thousand TEU. Cabortage was non-existent.
Odessa handled 360.4 thousand TEU during January-July 2019, up 9.3% year-on-year.
Container traffic via Pivdenniy (formerly, Yuzhny) doubled to make 114.5 thousand tons.
Chernomorsk (formerly known as Ilyichevsk) handled 70.8 thousand TEU, up 3.1% year-on-year.
Olvia Specialized Sea Port (formerly, Oktyabrsk) handled just 83 TEU, down 71.3% year-on-year.
