According to the RF Federal Customs Service’s statistics, in January-June 2019, meat and dairy import into Russia increased. During this period, 197 thousand tons of fresh and frozen meat was imported, up 3.7 year-on-year.
Fresh and frozen poultry import increased by 11.4% up to 110.2 thousand tons. Fish import was down 0.2% year-on-year to 197.2 thousand tons.
Canned meat and meat specialties import declined by 16.1% down to 7.3 thousand tons.
Milk and condensed cream import was up 23.2% to 88.2 thousand tons. Cheese and cottage cheese import increased by 4% up to 128 thousand tons. Butter import surged by 55.9% amounting to 57.2 thousand tons.
Vegetable oil import dropped by 88.8% down to 1.7 thousand tons. Palm oil import was up 5.2% to 505.3 thousand tons.
Apples import declined by 9.8% down to 594.5 thousand tons, and bananas import by 2.9% down to 826.9 thousand tons. Citrus fruit import was up 8.3% to 871.5 thousand tons.
Raw sugar import increased by 25.9% up to 3.4 thousand tons, white sugar import grew even more significantly by 32.2% up to 190.7 thousand tons.
In June, the following categories demonstrated a significant year-on-year growth in import volumes: palm oil (+40.8% up to 95.3 thousand tons), citrus fruit (+48.1% up to 65.6 thousand tons), and milk and condensed cream (+20% up to 9.3 thousand tons).
Month-on-month, almost all the product categories under report were down, the only categories demonstrating growth were palm oil (+97.3%), citrus fruit (+19,9%), сливочного масла (+1.3% to 7.8 thousand tonscanned meat and meat specialties (+30% to 1.3 thousand tons) and raw sugar (+20% to 0.6 thousand tons).
Coffee import in January-June grew by 11.3% up to 106.4 thousand tons, while tea import declined by 11.6% down to 74.6 thousand tons.
In June, coffee import decreased by 6.8% year-on-year and by 27.4% month-on-month down to 13.8 thousand tons. Tea import was down 15.1% year-on-year and 11.6% month-on-month to 10.7 thousand tons.
