According to the RF Federal Customs Service statistics, during January-May 2019 Russia exported 17.5 mn tons of ferrous metals, down 8.9% year-on-year. In terms of value, ferrous metals export declined by 15.6% down to $8.1 bn.
Intermediate iron and unalloyed steel products export was down 5.8% year-on-year to over 6.4 mn tons. In terms of value, it decreased by 18.8% down to some $2.8 bn.
In May, intermediate iron and unalloyed steel products export was down 17.9% year-on-year and 8.5% month-on-month making 1.1 mn tons. In terms of value, it was down 29.9% year-on-year and 9.9% month-on-month to $503.7 mn.
Iron and unalloyed steel flat section export in January-May declined by 13.4% year-on-year down to 2.9 mn tons worth $1.6 bn, down 20.2%.
In May, this commodity export was down 14.9% year-on-year and 8.3% month-on-month making 568.1 thousand tons worth $317.4 mn (down 23.9% year-on-year and 11% month-on-month).
Cast iron export in January-May declined by 15.5% year-on-year down to 1.9 mn tons worth $657.7 mn, down 17.7%.
In May, cast iron export made 419.2 mn tons, up 12.6% year-on-year and up 90.5% month-on-month. In terms of value, it amounted to $145.5 mn, down 2.1% year-on-year and up 89.2% month-on-month.
Ferroalloys export in January-May increased by 21.7% year-on-year up to 360.1 thousand tons worth $573 mn (+15.3%).
In May, ferroalloys export was up 22.4% year-on-year and 2% month-on-month to 74.9 thousand tons tons. In terms of value, it grew by 13% year-on-year and 0.2% month-on-month to amount to $115.3 mn.
