Azov and Caspian Freight Market, Week 26, 2019

  • A number of open vessels is still available for end of June in the Azov region. That is why gap between spot and beginning of July dates is quite substantial and equals 4-6 dollars by now.

According to Rufco shipbrokers, market players report that Turkish buyers are still in a waiting mode as they expect lower prices for grains of Russian origin in the near future. However, the strong Russian ruble and high local prices now are not helpful tools for such a correction.

Freight rates to the Sea of Marmara from Rostov make $19-20 per ton.

Freight rates from Rostov to SE Black Sea ports are $17-18 per ton.

The activity in the Caspian is also increasing but its pace is relatively slow mainly due to political instability. A variety of cargoes is being proposed from Mid-Volga ports, and Caspian ports are also quite active.

The current freight rates from Astrakhan to Iran make $25-27 per ton.

Please note that the rates cited in this article are average market rates. We ask our readers to pay attention that this information is not a commercial offer and cannot be an example for comparison in commercial disputes and arbitration.
