Azov and Caspian Freight Market, Week 24, 2019

  • The Azov spot market shows minimal activity, spot rates remain mainly unchanged. Major activity is expected at the end of June and on early July dates, when variety of cargos proposed for the shipment.

    According to Rufco shipbrokers, rates for those dates are traded with a $6-8/pmt surplus from the present market. Next week spot rates are going to start minimizing the gap and the rates are to start moving up towards the new season.

    Freight rates to the Sea of Marmara from Rostov make $17-18 per ton.

    Freight rates from Rostov to SE Black Sea ports are $15-16 per ton.

    In the Caspian, a variety of cargoes have been proposed for transportation to North Iranian ports from mid-Volga ports. Usually the region starts with barley. Freight rates from these ports and Astrakhan have gained 1-2 dollars this week.

    The current freight rates from Astrakhan to Iran make $24-26 per ton.
