Azov and Caspian Freight Market, Week 23, 2019

  • The annual international grain event in Gelendzhik has gathered the majority of market players, so almost all market activity is presently right there, according to Rufco shipbrokers. The visitors are welcomed with a sunny weather and warm sea but there are voices that such weather conditions would affect harvest quantity this year. Sovecon analysts are decreasing 2019 harvest estimation due to the hot weather.

Meanwhile, both the Azov and the Black Sea coasters market have stopped falling down and presently are moving sideward. Delays in discharge ports plus non-agricultural commodities are giving some support to these markets.

Freight rates to the Sea of Marmara from Rostov make $17-18 per ton.

Freight rates from Rostov to SE Black Sea ports are $15-16 per ton.

In the Caspian, the rates have corrected a bit further due to a lack of activity and the holidays. Even the transit cargoes market is almost silent and those proposals, which appear on the market, are quoted rather low.

The current freight rates from Astrakhan to Iran make $23-25 per ton.

Please note that the rates cited in this article are average market rates. We ask our readers to pay attention that this information is not a commercial offer and cannot be an example for comparison in commercial disputes and arbitration.
