Russian Automotive Export and Import

  • According to the RF Federal Customs Service’s statistics, Russia’s import of cars during January-March 2019 amounted to 61.5 thousand units, down 8.1% year-on-year. Truck import, on the contrary, increased 25% year-on-year up to 6 thousand units.

    In terms of value, car import increased 2.1% year-on-year up to $1.7 bn. Truck import during the first three months of 2019 grew by 7.6% up to $489.9 mn.

    In March, car import declined 8.4% year-on-year, but grew 54.2% month-on-month amounting to 29.3 units worth $826.3 mn, up 0.3% year-on-year and 62.2% month-on-month. Truck import in March made some 2.7 thousand units, up 8% year-on-year and 50% month-on-month.

    Car export in Q1 2019 was up 44.6% year-on-year to 22.7 thousand units. Truck export increased by 8% up to 2.7 thousand units. In terms of value, car export was up 39.9% year-on-year amounting to $307 mn. Truck export increased 42.5% to make $70.7 mn.

    In March, car export grew 50.8% year-on-year and 26% month-on-month up to 9.2 thousand units worth $132.5 mn, up 60.6% year-on-year and 39.5% month-on-month. Truck export was up 22.2% year-on-year and down 8.3% month-on-month to some 1.1 thousand units worth $31.5 mn, up 69.4% year-on-year and 44.5% month-on-month.
