Azov and Caspian Freight Market, Week 19, 2019

  • In the Azov market, prolonged holidays are giving no chance to freight market and it has already started to decline again.

The Turkish Lira has seriously weakened to US dollar, which is not helpful for other commodities trade as well.

The majority of Turkish buyers are already in waiting mode for new harvest and new prices, according to Rufco shipbrokers.

No signs are to be seen for good in the Black Sea coasters market, either.

Freight rates to the Sea of Marmara from Rostov make $16-17 per ton.

Freight rates from Rostov to SE Black Sea ports are $14-15 per ton.

In the Caspian, a surplus of tonnage plus holidays and new sanction policy were the factors that influenced freight decline in the region. Trade is problematic and risky as the political situation is only deteriorating.

The current freight rates from Astrakhan to Iran make $27-29 per ton.

Please note that the rates cited in this article are average market rates. We ask our readers to pay attention that this information is not a commercial offer and cannot be an example for comparison in commercial disputes and arbitration.
