Russian Transport Sector 2018 Results

  • During the full year of 2018, cargo volume carried by all transport modes in the RF transport system increased 1.9% year-on-year to make 8.1 bn tons.

    According to the RF Statistics Agency, road transport accounts for the largest share in the entire volume with 5.5 bn tons, up 1.8% year-on-year.

    Rail cargo volume increased 2% up to some 1.3 bn tons.

    Pipeline traffic was up 2.7% to circa 1.2 bn tons.

    Air freight increased 9.1% down to 1.2 bn tons.

    Maritime transport volume declined 6.1% down to 23 mn tons.

    Inland shipping volume was also down 4.8% to 105.1 mn tons.

    In December, road and inland shipping segments demonstrated negative month-on-month dynamics.
