Azov and Caspian Freight Market, Week 6, 2019

  • The Azov market is still in free fall. The rates ex Rostov to Marmara have finally reached $18-19 per metric ton by the moment. Freight rates presently are the same as for the  coasters segment from deep sea ports like Novorossiysk and Tuapse.

    Analytics have noticed that grain cargo flow ex Southern Russian ports during the past week decreased by 20%. The good news is that there are signs for easing of the situation with truckers’ lock out in Rostov and Krasnodar regions. This should bring at least some cargo to Azov Sea ports.

    Freight rates to the Sea of Marmara from Rostov make $18-19 per ton.

    Freight rates from Rostov to SE Black Sea ports are $17-18 per ton.

    At least one safe harbor for sea-river really exists and it is the Caspian Sea nowadays. The rates are holding on same level for two weeks already.

    The current freight rates from Astrakhan to Iran remain at $37-38 per ton.
