Container Traffic via Baltics’ Ports Up

  • In 2018, the ports of the three Baltic countries jointly handled more than 1.4 mn TEU, up 27.2% year-on-year. Almost all of them demonstrated positive dynamics.

    Thus, Klaipeda, the Baltics’ leader in terms of container throughput, grew by 58.9% up to some 750 thousand TEU.

    Riga was up 5.2% to 469.3 thousand TEU.

    Container traffic via Tallinn increased by 3.3% up to some 222.7 thousand TEU.

    Ventspils handled 2.1 thousand TEU exceeding its previous year’s result 8.3-fold.

    The only outside was Liepaja, which saw its volumes decrease by 21.9% down to 2.9 thousand TEU.
